Ta m a ra Barto Sailing can be peaceful, fast-paced, or adventurous regardless of where you are, but sailing on Maui is unique in that you can have all extremes while soaking up breathtaking views. Humpback whales can be seen 5-6 months out of the year, while sea turtles and spinner dolphins are friendly all year round. On the south side of the island, funneling trade winds ensure exhilarating adventures to and from Molokini Crater, a marine preserve with vibrant coral that shelters a wide variety of different fish species. Leaving from the west side of the island, the protection of the West Maui mountains ensures a tranquil sail to the neighboring island of Lanai, where spinner dolphins habitually say hello and occasionally even play; diving and leaping through the boat's wake. While all of these experiences are amazing and life-changing, enjoying a vivid Hawaiian sunset with layers of pink, purple and orange is by far a personal favorite. Watching the sun slowly dip into the cobalt blue Pacific Ocean, with a warm wind kissing your face as the catamaran beneath you quietly pushes forward, is an experience that can only be described as pure bliss. Breathing in the sweet combination of sugar cane, salt and plumeria flowers, all worries and stress about life simply drift away. That bliss, more than anything else, is why I love sailing, and why I strive to share this unique experience with others. Every day the sailing experience can be different and each new day holds a plethora of new adventures. Maui fascinates anyone who comes to visit and her beauty captures those who call it "home". Come be a part of this amazing place, and you, too, will experience the unique bliss that is the island of Maui. Sailing & Serenity Shut down the engines and hoist the sails.
