104 FLOWER TIP: Leis last longer if put in the refrigerator, but we suggest you let them age by keeping them next to your bed and enjoying their fragrance and beauty. how to MAKE A LEI STEP ONE: Go to Longs Drugs and buy a lei needle and thread. STEP TWO: Collect about 50 plumeria blossoms (ask your hotel or property manager before picking flowers). STEP THREE: Cut about 100" length of thread and fold it in half. STEP FOUR: Tie the thread around a paper towel about 1" from one end of the thread for the "stopper," then thread the other end onto the lei needle. STEP FIVE: Put the needle through the center of the face of the flower and carefully guide the flowers to the paper towel. STEP SIX: When you are finished, remove the paper towel and tie the ends together. 6 4 3 2 1 5 Of course everything you do while you're on Maui creates a memory, but some things tend to be more indelible than others.
