Advantages of the Guided Tour to Hana GyPSy Guide Don't Miss Out on any of the Sights Along the Way The most popular driving trip on Maui is the famous Road to Hana, and with very little signage and only mile markers, it's very easy to miss out on many of the attractions along this route. This is where the GyPSy Guide is invaluable to help you know what to stop for, and what to do at the best locations. Just download their app on your iPhone, iPad or Android and you're ready to go. Then, all you need to do is drive and listen to the entertaining and helpful commentary as it plays AUTOMATICALLY. There are three tours available; the Road to Hana, the Summit of Haleakala, and an Island-Wide Tour. After you download the tours on WiFi, they do not require any data to play, so anyone from any country or network can experience the tour without fear of data or roaming charges. So get your tour today! Rappel Maui Waterfall Tour Experiencing Waterfalls in a Whole New Way! Halfway to Hana Get Ready for the Best Banana Bread Ever Those long, windy roads with the amazing views are spectacular, but after a few hours of sightseeing, you deserve a treat. Lucky for us, the perfect place for a pit stop is located (and aptly named) Halfway to Hana. Serving up hot lunches, island grown fruit, and freshly made banana bread and beef jerky, this family owned company is the perfect place to pull over, get out of the car, stretch out, and refuel yourself. They also have great treats like authentic Hawaiian Shave Ice! Coconut Glen's Award Winning Ice Cream Very few people in the world will ever get to sample one of the greatest tasting ice cream in the world. The only place to get it is along the Road to Hana. Be sure to stop off at Mile Marker 27.5 for organic frozen bliss. Food Trucks in Hana Coffee, Fish, BBQ & More It can be a long, hungry drive to Hana, even if you stop for snacks along the way. So once you arrive into the sleepy town of Hana, be sure to pull into the Hana Food Truck Zone at 5200 Hana Highway. You'll for sure want to check out Da Fish Shack for some of the freshest local-caught fish on Maui! This food truck is run by a chef with years of experience preparing ono, ahi, mahi-mahi and shrimp, along with Black Angus cheeseburgers and freshly made coleslaw, fries and sides. There's also Fat Daddy's which has some of the most killer BBQ you'll ever eat. Over there first thing in the morning? Stop by Hana Town Coffee & Espresso for your morning pick-me-up and some breakfast. Oh, and on the weekends you'll find Troy's Plate Lunch serving authentic Hawaiian Style Onolicious grinds! DAILY! F R ESH C A U GH T F I SH The Best Way to Tour the Island Premier Providers It's an undisputed fact that the Road to Hana is one of the most awe-inspiring sightseeing adventures Maui has to offer. And though it's true that those adventurous enough to drive it may find the hairpin turns and one-lane bridges exhilarating, some of us would honestly rather leave the driving to someone else. Luckily, there are some great companies offering guided tours to Hana that pick you up right at your hotel. Hands down, our two favorite Hana guided tour companies are Haleakala EcoTours (808) 575-957, and The Maui Touring Company, (808) 214-5804. Haleakala EcoTours features comfortable air-conditioned touring vehicles that can accommodate individuals, couples, families or even large groups. They'll pick you up at your hotel or condo, take you to Hana or Haleakala (see the sunrise with them), and drop you off at the end of the day. Their tour guides are very knowledgeable about the island and Hawaiian culture, so you'll not only see a lot, but learn a lot too! Butch from The Maui Touring Company is the owner and tour operator and does private, luxury excursions to anywhere you'd like to go in his big, comfy SUV - perfect for small groups or couples. So if you want to relax and leave the driving to an experienced guide, we suggest you give either of these companies a call! 46 Maui Island Guide & Driving Magazine • MauiDrivingMagazine.com REVIEWS Places Along the Road to Hana HANA
