New in Lahaina Now open in the Lahaina Gateway Shopping Center, Moku Roots is a new, award-winning vegetarian restaurant that features fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Committed to good health and taking care of the environment, their diverse menu is comprised of healthy creations that will make you feel good and that you can feel good about. The regular menu at Moku Roots has super creative vegetarian and vegan cuisine, including salads, rolls and wraps, while their "Small Plates" menu is a fresh idea that gives diners the opportunity to indulge in more than one dish without the guilt of overdoing it. On it you'll find tasty choices like Rasta Pasta (a zucchini noodle trio with sun-dried tomatoes, macadamia nut pesto, and vegan "cheeze"). Moku Roots is also environmentally responsible and doesn't have any plastic cups, one-time use to-go boxes, or plasticware—which we love. Instead, they provide glass cups for guests to use and offer eco-friendly taro leaves for diners to wrap their leftovers in. (For those who prefer a more traditional take-home container they also offer the use of reusable tins in exchange for a 100% money back deposit. Deposit is returned upon receipt of the container.) As of the writing of this article, Moku Roots is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:30 am to 8:00 pm, and 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
