Down The Hatch & Breakwall Shave Ice Co. Conveniently located in downtown Lahaina at the Wharf Cinema Center, and featured on the Food Network's Diners, Drive-ins & Dives, Down The Hatch, has a lot to boast about! First off, they feature a unique menu items with signature dishes like their lobster & crab stuffed grilled cheese, and bacon-n-sprouts with a delicious balsamic drizzle. The owners, each with many years experience in the restaurant business, created a place that has great food at great prices, while incorporating the freshest ingredients on island. Most notably they put fresh local fish on a pedestal and are well-known as "A Place To Eat Fish." Their motto is "Good Food…Great Vibes" and they do everything they can to live up to it! An open-air restaurant with koi ponds, plenty of seating, and large screen TV's, they have live, local musicians and a Happy Hour from 2:00pm-6:00pm every day. They even have Kombucha on tap, and lots of specialty cocktails daily. Down The Hatch is a great place for the whole family! Kid's Meals come with a drink & FREE mini shave ice from Breakwall Shave Ice Co. (their sister establishment), which is right next door. Aside from shave ice, they offer cold pressed coffee and healthy treats like acai bowls loaded with fresh fruit and granola. Plus, there's more than kids' versions of shave ice... Breakwall Shave Ice is the only place in Lahaina serving Adult Shave Ice a delicious combination of traditional shave ice with flavors like the Mojito Float or the Strawberry Guava Daiquiri. Both Down The Hatch and Breakwall Shave Ice Co. are two places you'll definitely want to hit up while on vacation in Maui! 80 Maui Island Guide & Driving Magazine • MauiDrivingMagazine.com REVIEWS Restaurants & Sweeteries DINING SEE MAP on page 104 Leoda's Slow down as you drive through the little roadside village of Olowalu, about 15 minutes south of Lahaina Town, so you don't miss this adorable plantation style restaurant and pie shop where everything is prepared with care. From the old photos of the area, to the distressed wood, and muted colors this place has atmosphere! Try their sandwiches or burgers with Kula onions. All the breads are home baked and flavorful. The food is fresh and tasty because so many ingredients are sourced locally. Leoda's prides themselves on serving "glorified grandma comfort food," so you know you're in for a treat. But don't get too full leave room for pie 'cause that's what Leoda's is famous for. My favorite is their chocolate macadamia nut pie it's absolutely delish!
