In 1991, after having visited Maui several times, I finally decided to make it my home. To say things were different from Los Angeles is an understatement. But I was ready for change. I wanted a simpler life, less material-based, and more about connecting with nature. I surfed a lot - practically every day those first five or six years - but I worked too, at various jobs. I was an office clerk, a busboy, and a bookkeeper. Basically I did whatever it took to stay on Maui. Eventually I had the idea of greeting visitors at the airport and giving them great information to help make their trip to the islands better. That idea blossomed, and today I'm the publisher of four visitor magazines and six visitor-oriented websites. I've been married 21 years and have four amazing kids. So what's my tip? Live life to it's fullest, go after your dreams – no matter how crazy they sound. And one day, if you're persistent and very lucky, just like me, all your dreams will come true!
