Down The Hatch & Breakwall Shave Ice Co. Down The Hatch is an amazing new restaurant located conveniently in downtown Lahaina at the Wharf Cinema Center, and has lots to boast about! First off, the food is sublime – really unique menu items with signature dishes like their Lobster & Crab Stuffed Grilled Cheese, or their Bacon-N-Sprouts with a delicious balsamic drizzle, served in a metal martini glass. The owners have many years combined experience in the restaurant business, and wanted to create a place that offered great food at great prices, using the freshest ingredients available. Most notably they put fresh local fish on a pedestal and are well-known as "A Place To Eat Fish." Their motto is "Good Food… Great Vibes" and they do everything they can to live up to it! It's an open-air restaurant with koi ponds, plenty of seating, and large screen TV's. They have live, local musicians that create a really energetic buzz which makes it a well-known spot for locals seeking a great time. Down The Hatch boasts a very long Happy Hour daily from 2-6pm. They even have Kombucha on tap, and lots of specialty cocktails daily. Their sister establishment right next door is Breakwall Shave Ice the only place in Lahaina serving Adult Shave Ice a combination of traditional shave ice with flavors like the Mojito Float or the Strawberry Guava Daiquiri. They also have plenty of non-alcoholic versions which are equally as exciting and fun. Not only that but Breakwall Shave Ice also offers cold pressed coffee and healthy treats like Acai Bowls loaded with fresh fruit and granola. We love their menu and we think you will too. Check 'em both out! 86 Maui Island Guide & Driving Magazine • MauiDrivingMagazine.com REVIEWS Restaurants & Sweeteries DINING SEE MAP on page 109:A2 Smoky & Tender Looking for some incredibly delicious, melt-in-your-mouth, tender- as-can-be BBQ on the South Side of Maui?
