Aloha! The annual Maui humpback mating and
birthing season is upon us once again, giving
us the opportunity and privilege to observe the
majestic humpback whale in all its glory.
Unfortunately, there is a reality that a lot of us
have been aware of, and which some of us are just
waking up to: that most marine life on this planet
is currently being threatened. Population growth,
overfishing, climate change, and other realities are
all negatively impacting the lives of our oceans,
and ultimately ours, quite dramatically.
The protected breeding grounds of the Hawaiian
waters are what afford us the great ability to
interact with the abundant marine life, including
the humpbacks. By taking actions and initiative
for the further protection of our environment,
future generations will be able to witness these
wonders as well. As those who love and care for
our planet say, "Think Globally, Act Locally."
