46 HANA REVIEWS Places Along the Road to Hana Paia Gelato Get ready to dive into uncharted waters with a flavor packed dessert that is uniquely Hawaiian. The gelato makers at Paia Gelato use fresh, locally grown fruit from suppliers around the Islands to create flavor explosions that are blowing away everyone who tastes this Maui treat. Fresh-off- the-tree flavors like Lilikoi, Starfruit, Lychee, and Guava, have locals going crazy. Rich, delicious and creamy, they feature nearly 30 unique blends - and even the most decadent ones, like Big Island Macadamia Nut Coffee Crunch, have 60% less fat than ice cream! But they're not just serving up gelato at this local's favorite spot in the heart of Paia Town. You can also get a pick-me-up on the way back from Hana (which I always need after those long windy roads). Choose from freshly brewed coffee, espresso, americanos or iced coffee. And for those who want to take it to the next level, ask for an affogato. This is a scoop of gelato drowned in a shot of espresso - super yummy. But be warned, the moment most people try it, they get hooked forever. The kids will want to grab a brownie or cookie sandwich filled with freshly made gelato. And if you're planning on celebrating on Maui, Paia Gelato makes delicious layered Gelato cakes (you can even custom order one). Their Hāna Fresh Farm Stand has a certified kitchen featuring the produce from Hāna Fresh's farm, and oen fish caught in Hana waters by local fisherman. Serving everything from homemade granola to farm fresh eggs for breakfast from 9:00a.m. to 11:00a.m. Salads, paninis and fresh poke bowls are served from 10:00a.m. to 2:00p.m. for lunch. Be sure to try both their lemongrass iced tea - it's refreshing and delicious - and their golden beets if they're in season. Their Hana grown fresh flavor is fantastic!
