Look for the sign "Twin Falls" and the roadside stand. This is the first of many waterfalls, but here you can take a gentle hike and easily get into the water. Don't leave ANYTHING of value in your car or trunk - thes are common. The first waterfall is on the le side aer a short, but sometimes slippery, hike. Further up is a much taller waterfall that locals jump from, but be careful, it can be shallow and very dangerous. Keep a lookout for the Keanae Arboretum. Shortly aer you pass it you'll take a le at the Keanae sign, which will lead to Keanae Peninsula. As the road descends you'll see a flat area of land and some taro beds. Get out of the car and explore the shoreline - this place is magical. But don't get too close to the ocean, rogue waves can easily knock you into the lava rock! 1 2 4 5 (continued on page 40) Twin Falls Located just aer mile marker 10, this is one of the most beautiful 70' waterfalls on Maui (oen not visible unless it's been raining). If it's flowing, for the best view, take a short hike upstream - it's worth it. 2 Waikamoi Next stop, and less than a mile ahead, will be the Garden of Eden. With amazing flowers, plants, and trees, this arboretum and botanical garden offers over 500 of the most beautiful indigenous specimens, each one individually botanically labeled. The per person $15 fee allows you to drive or walk the beautiful gardens, but we highly suggest you walk. There are many very fragrant flowers you'll want to smell along the paths. 3 Garden of Eden 4 Keanae Peninsula 5 Puaa Kaa A couple hundred yards before mile marker 23, you'll see Puaa Kaa State Park. Park in the turnout and cross the road to the path. It leads to a lovely 20' waterfall and two small swimming holes. For those who wish to adventure farther, there's another more powerful waterfall up higher. To get there, walk along the water ditch and up the stream - but be careful, this is challenging. >> >> >> >> >> Great Drives around Maui
