<< ROAD TO HANA 60 e Road to Hana EXPLORING MAUI Paia Gelato By the time you've made it all the way back to Paia, usually a little over two hours, you'll be hungry and tired. There are plenty of restaurants, but if you're just looking for a treat and a latte, you'll want to stop by Paia Gelato (on your right as you come into town). They feature delicious java and teas to pick you up for the rest of the ride home, and some of the most amazing gelato made with farm-fresh Maui fruit. Free samples too! On the Way Home Waianapanapa At mile marker 32, this 120 acre park features a black sand beach, fresh water caves, and blow holes. Take the hike along the ancient Hawaiian coastal lava trail - amazing! Next stop... Hana! >> More stops on the Road to Hana Keanae Peninsula Around mile marker 17, keep a lookout for the Keanae Arboretum. Shortly after you pass it you'll take a left at the Keanae sign, which will lead to Keanae Peninsula. As the road descends you'll see a flat area of land and some taro fields. It's a magical place but don't get too close to the ocean, rogue waves can easily knock you into the lava rock! Puaa kaa A couple hundred yards before mile marker 23, you'll see Puaa Kaa State Park. Park in the turnout and cross the road to the path. It leads to a lovely 20' waterfall and two small swimming holes. STAY AWAKE!
