REVIEWS Restaurants & Sweeteries Kimo's Fu Lin DINING Kimo's restaurant is located right on the water on Front Street in Old Lahaina town. They have a Lanai overlooking the water where you can practically touch the ocean while enjoying a lunch and bar menu. And their great selection of locally inspired pupus, salads, sandwiches, burgers and fresh fish is one of the reasons I go back to often. For dinner, they open their upstairs dining room which has spectacular views, and a menu featuring fresh fish, seafood, steaks and a selection of island favorites like Koloa Pork Ribs. Kimo's is family friendly and offers a Keiki (kid's) menu for children under 12 yrs. There's also nightly live music, creating true Hawaiian ambiance. But let's talk about what Kimo's is really famous for - it's Kimo's Original Hula Pie! Billed as "this is what the sailors swam ashore for in Lahaina", this dessert was developed at Kimo's long ago, and has been pleasing even the heartiest of dessert eaters ever since. Hula Pie is made with Kimo's favorite macadamia nut ice cream piled high on a chocolate cookie crust, topped with chocolate fudge, whipped cream, and more macadamia nuts. Is your mouth watering yet? It's sized for sharing, but don't be shy - whether you are with a group or all by your lonesome - it's something you don't want to miss. See you at Kimo's! It happens to all of us—that fierce craving for good Chinese food. Fortunately, there's Fu Lin Chinese Seafood Restaurant, located right across from the beach on Front Street. How many Chinese restaurants do you know where you can watch the sunset over the ocean? I thought so. Order one entrée and the second one is half price! This means you can have their signature honey walnut shrimp, the yummy char siu barbecue pork, and the luscious Peking duck without shelling out a big chunk of your vacation dollars. And the best part? None of that MSG stuff. And even better they will allow you to custom order anything you want. Their daily lunch specials and popular lunch buffet are an irresistible value. Feel like take-out instead? Their convenient parking lot makes it a breeze. You've absolutely got to check out Fu Lin's, and when you do, say hello to Mae from us.
