TOP 10 Things to do on Maui TOP 10 Things to do on Maui Maui offers a vast array of amazing and wonderful trips and adventures. By talking with visitors, reviewing comments made in surveys, and researching on our own (that was the best part), we came up with this list to help make your vacation the best one ever... have fun! Guide to Molokini: The majority of boats heading to Molokini depart from Maalaea Harbor, which is on the coast and located in the center of the island, between Kihei and Lahaina. number one However, several boats depart from the Kihei boat ramp (close to Wailea). Luaus & Shows From the moment you arrive at the luau grounds you'll be transported into the "Spirit of Aloha." Between the lei greetings, the mai tais, and the sunsets, you'll taste the island flavor. Shows usually run from 5:00 - 8:30pm. Your two best bets for a luau are the Old Lahaina Luau (662-8668), an authentic oceanfront luau with great performances, and the Feast at Lele (667-5353), the most upscale of any show on Maui, offering table service with your own personal servers. Aside from a luau, make sure you save time to take in one or both of the following great shows Maui has to offer. Ulalena (667-2564) is a Cirque du Soleil production depicting the creation story of the Hawaiian Islands. With amazing performances and fantastic music, this artistic display of Hawaii's rich history guarantees to bring down the house. As for dinner shows on Maui, Kupanaha at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel (667-0128) is hands-down our favorite one. They feature an evening of great food and spellbinding illusory performances, coupled with hula and chants that are guaranteed to amaze you long after the show is over. Molokini Snorkel Trip Voted the most popular and fun boat trip by both locals and visitors - you don't want to miss it! You're guaranteed to see marine life and have a blast on this adventure. These cruises are perfect for just about anyone, no matter what your age, swimming experience, or physical condition. Morning trips usually depart around 6:30 or 7:00am, last about five hours, and offer breakfast, lunch, drinks, and snacks with most including two snorkel spots. Some boats offer optional scuba or SNUBA (scuba without tanks), hot BBQ lunch, ocean trampolines or slides, fresh water showers, snorkel instruction, boogie boards, wetsuits, and more. The AM trip costs more than the afternoon trip, but it also offers more. However, if waking up at 6 a.m. for a snorkel cruise is too early, you should try the 1:00 p.m. trip. The afternoon trip usually goes to Molokini or Coral Gardens and offers most of the same perks as the morning trip, and lasts about 31/2 hours. Either way, we definitely recommend this trip! number two DEPARTING FROM MAALAEA ACTIVITIES No trip to Maui is complete without a Hawaiian luau or dinner show - or both! Explore the history and tastes of Hawaii with exciting performances and wonderful feasts fit for a king. Ask anyone who's been to a luau and they'll tell you that there's nothing like it.
