Connecting with the Ocean Wintertime is my favorite time on Maui because I see and hear humpback whales every day. No matter how many times I see a whale, being in their presence (on scuba, on a boat, or from shore) always makes me wake up. When I look into a whales eyes, I am so impressed by their wisdom and awareness. They are truly conscious creatures. Living on an island offers so much opportunity to be in the water and explore. I love scuba, free diving, surfing, and swimming- --basically any excuse to be in the water and feel its healing properties. Connecting with the water, seeing the life in the ocean, puts everything in perspective for me. I benefit from the ocean, and I feel it is my responsibility to give back.
