All in all, from top to bottom, we had ourselves a fabulous day in Upcountry Maui. Whatever you do, make sure you leave at least one day of your vacation to explore this amazing and beautiful part of Maui! Final stop: Paia Town As we headed down Baldwin Avenue, towards our last destination, we stopped at several wonderful churches and landmarks along the road. One of our favorite places was the Hui Noeau Visual Arts Center. Housed in a beautiful 1917 plantation mansion and estate, this art center features public workshops, classes, events and exhibitions. By now, both of us were getting hungry for lunch, and lucky for us, our next stop was full of great places to eat, shop and explore. Often called the "Cowboy Town of Maui," Makawao is filled with country western store fronts and even hitching posts for the occasional horses ridden into town. We were pleasantly surprised when, at many of the art galleries we strolled into, we were able to meet the actual artists. Everyone was super friendly, and the shops were filled with lots of unique clothing and gifts.
