Ziplining Adventure Tours If you're looking for excitement and a chance to feel the wind in your hair while exploring the Islands, these tours are exactly what you're after. One of the hottest adventures to hit Maui in the last few years is ziplining. Our two favorite companies for long, action-filled zipline tours are Maui Zipline, of f Highway 30 at the Maui Tropical Plantation, (633 -24 6 4), and NorthShore Zipline at Camp Maui, of f Kauhikoa Road above Haiku (269 - 0 671). Get ready for an easy hike with narration about the island's ecosystems, and then strap in and fly across valleys at speeds up to 40mph. You'll launch off cliffs, zip across gorges and soar through tropical forests! (Kids must be at least 5 years old.) If that sounds a bit intense, try Paradise Eco- Adventures zipline in Lahaina (26 4 - 6127). And while you're there hop in their Aquaball and do their dragonfruit tour! The Road to Hana Our #9 on the list of activities not to miss is the scenic drive along the famous Road to Hana. It's a 52 mile two-lane road with over 600 hairpin turns crossing more than 50 bridges. The drive to Hana isn't only about the destination, it's also about the journey. But hey, it's kinda hard to enjoy the journey when you're navigating those hairpin turns. Instead, keep your eyes on the road and pull over often. One way to get the most out of your Hana trip is to download the GyPSy Guide App (GypsyGuide.com/maui). By planning ahead, and taking advantage of this excellent guided tour, your trip will be way more fun! On your way be sure to stop in at Halfway to Hana (248-7037), just past Mile Marker 17, and get your hands on their world famous, melt in your mouth banana bread it's baked fresh daily! They also make fantastic home- made beef jerky, coconut candy, a variety of burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs, shave ice and fresh fruit. At mile marker 27.5 keep your eyes peeled for Coconut Glen's Ice Cream (248-4876), which was rated as the Best Ice Cream in the World (and it's organic too)! And if you love fresh fish, stop by Da Fish Shack (269-3922, just past Mile Marker 51). They catch their own and offer delicious fish sandwiches, burgers & treats! On the way back, as you're passing through Paia, stop off at Ululani's Shave Ice (877-3700) for your final treat of the day! After that drive, you deserve it! To experience the Road to Hana without driving, take a certified guided tour of the famous road. Led by an expert, you'll ride in luxury without missing any waterfalls, beaches or secret spots. Call Haleakala ECOTOURS (575-9575) or The Maui Touring Company (214-5804) then sit back, relax and enjoy. Health & Wellness No vacation on Maui is complete without a little "me time."
