Granted, not everyone feels that way about Maui, and to be honest, I'm grateful for that (as it would otherwise be overcrowded). But I love the island life because I'm surrounded by nature, everything's a lot slower, and I don't have to keep up with the Joneses. Plus, although it may seem expensive, the truth is, there's not nearly as many things to spend money on as a local. I came here almost half a lifetime ago, and I've never regretted it, not even once.
